What should I do if I’m giving it to someone I know?
If you want to wipe the computer before giving it away, we’d advise taking your equipment to a company that specialises in data removal. If you know what you’re doing it’s possible to remove data yourself by using the original install disk supplied with your computer. You can also use a tool such as Eraser to make your computer web-ready for a new user.
If you don’t have your original install disk provided with your computer, you could download and install one of the many free operating systems available online such as Jolicloud and Ubuntu. This will install all of the basic software needed to enable your computer to work successfully.
